Yue Hai Yangqin Strings for 402 Instruments

A full set of Yue Hai (乐海) strings for the 402 Yangqin, available in two grades: Standard (普通) and Performance (演奏级).

Yue Hai strings are made specifically for Chinese string instruments, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology for even tension and a rounded, mellow tone.

Which grade to choose

Performance (演奏级) strings use high-grade German piano steel wire for the bare treble strings, and premium nickel-chromium alloy or silver wrapping for the wound bass strings. This keeps the core tension even and the strings resilient.

They are stretch-tested to hold pitch longer through temperature changes and firm strikes from the yangqin sticks, so you re-tune less often during recitals and orchestra sets.

Standard (普通) strings use standard steel cores with basic alloy or copper wrapping. They drift out of pitch a little sooner and wear out faster, so expect to tune and replace them more often.

Performance suits stage and orchestra players. Standard suits home practice and lessons.

Things to take note

• The Yuehai Yangqin string packets in the boxed sets are labelled according to their respective bridge positions and string positions, rather than the conventional #15–#30 numbering system (e.g. 低音 1–10, 次中音 1–10, 中音 1–11).

  Strings for the Soprano Bridge (高音码) are an exception

• Strings for the Soprano Bridge (高音码) are grouped into individual packets according to their string numbers, rather than their bridge positions. For example, all #26 strings are packed together in one packet, all #27 strings in another, and so forth.

The Professional Set doesnot include separate string packets for positions No. 10 and No. 11 on the Alto Bridge (中音码).

These two positions useplain steel strings #28 instead of wound strings. Additional #28 strings are included in the packet labelled #28 for this purpose.

Please take note of this difference when identifying and installing the strings.
