This Pipa by Qiu Ting Yu looks and sounds gorgeous, although as a beginner I am not fully able to unlock the instruments full sound potential yet. However, every day I get more and more acquainted with my pipa, it already has become a daily companion in my life and its (her?) sound gives me much pleasure and joy:-) The pipa's massive rosewood body makes it rather heavy, which for me is no problem at all. An important note is that the headstock may vary from that on the shop's picture. My pipa has a beautifully carved peony flower with fine details (different from the white peonys on more affordable pipas and different than the carved dragon on the same model displayed at the shop page). I like the carved peony on my pipa very much, but if you necessarily want the dragon headstock, you should probably first ask in advance before ordering ;-)The people in the shop are very kind, and answered my questions very quickly, so that I had a good, trustworthy feeling as a customer. The pipa came in a what I think is a semi-hard case in high quality with a built-in hygrometer, which is perfect. I also like the shop's channel/videos on youtube and hope they post new videos more frequently in the future. In the end, I want to thank the friendly team of Eason Music, that they enable and empower people from all over the world to dive into the vast world of Chinese music, and contributing to a better exchange and mutual understanding of cultures.
