Zhonghu is like the alto of the Huqin family. Construction of a Zhonghu is similar to Erhu, but with a larger neck and resonator. The strings are tuned a fifth lower than the Erhu.
Zhonghu produces a deep and mellow tone, similar to that of a Viola but more expressive.
This is a black sandalwood Zhonghu by Shanghai Dunhuang 'Yun' Brand. Black sandalwood gives a mellow and warm tone to this Zhonghu. Playing is responsive and workmanship is excellent. If you do not have the budget for an aged rosewood Zhonghu, this is the next best thing.
All our erhus come with CITES certificate to certify the snakeskin is from legitimate sources.
Shanghai Dunhuang Musical Instruments Co., Ltd is the largest and most established Chinese Musical Instruments Factory in China.
